Holiday 2020: Let’s Buy Black

It's the season to buy black.

Tis the Season to Buy Black!

Let’s be honest, 2020 has not been a great year. Right now is the most crucial time to show love for our community and #BuyBlack! Supporting Black businesses should be a lifestyle; it should be as commonplace as brushing your teeth, getting dressed, or making sure you are well fed.

If we’ve learned anything during this pandemic, it’s that we have the power to do more than what the world believes we can. United we can bring the world to a standstill so our voices are heard when we say, “I Can’t Breathe” and “Black Lives Matter”. We don’t have to wait to be given opportunities; we can create our own and write a new narrative.

To help balance the playing field, we need to #BuyBlack this holiday season. Here are 4 of our favorite Black-owned and operated businesses that you can champion this holiday and, in fact, every day after!

We Buy Black is the largest online marketplace for Black-owned businesses that emboldens the #BuyBlack Movement. You can shop and learn how you can further support Black-owned businesses. You can also advertise your business and reach over 1 million shoppers on their platform. What a great opportunity!

OBWS is the largest app helping Black-owned businesses thrive with over 450,000 consumers shopping and spreading awareness. Black-owned businesses in your neighborhood are just a touch away – a great way to support local entrepreneurs.

Eat Okra is an app run by three Black developers and designers – Anthony, Janique, and Justin – that lists more than 2,500 Black-owned restaurants across the U.S. If you’re looking to support a local Black-owned vegan or farm-to-table restaurant, Eat Okra is the perfect place to start your search.

Shine is the No. 1 Black-owned self-care app. It provides meditations, guidance, bedtime stories (aka snoozy retellings of movies from the 90s and early 2000s), and more; all while helping you be kinder to yourself, reduce anxiety, and achieve your mental health goals.

A better tomorrow starts with a better today. There’s no better time than the present to #BuyBlack, and as the old saying goes “If you want something done right, do it yourself”! Fight systemic racism and spend your money at Black-owned businesses!
